About Lekgalameetse Provincial Park
Lekgalameetse is a Limpopo reserve on the escarpment between Tzaneen and the Lowveld, where the Wolkberg mountains drop through forest and grassland to the Makutswi valley. It is a quiet, undeveloped reserve of waterfalls, indigenous forest and mountain streams, with samango monkeys, bushbuck, leopard and forest birds rather than big game. Hiking and 4x4 routes are the activities, accommodation is basic self-catering and camping, and it sits close enough to the Kruger gates near Phalaborwa to be an escarpment day on a Lowveld trip.
