About Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden
Walter Sisulu is the botanical garden on the West Rand of Johannesburg, built around the Witpoortjie waterfall and the pair of Verreaux's eagles that have nested on the cliff beside it for decades. It is a highveld garden of indigenous plants, a cycad collection and wetland trails, with more than 200 bird species recorded and a weekend picnic culture. It sits on the edge of the Cradle of Humankind and is malaria-free, an easy morning from Johannesburg.
