Hwange National Park

Hwange is Zimbabwe's largest park, on the Botswana border two hours from Victoria Falls, and its dry-season elephant gatherings at the pumped waterholes are among the largest anywhere: herds of hundreds at a single pan from about August to October. Lion, wild dog, buffalo, sable and roan are strengths, the Kalahari sand and teak woodland give it a different look from the Zambezi parks, and its camps range from ZimParks self-catering and campsites to private concessions with hides at the waterholes. There are no reliable rhino. It is reached by road or air from the Falls, and it is a malaria area.
