About Giants Castle Game Reserve

Giant's Castle is an Ezemvelo reserve in the central Drakensberg, part of the uKhahlamba-Drakensberg World Heritage Site, below the 3,000-metre peaks of Giant's Castle and Champagne Castle. It is known for two things: the main caves, with some of the best-preserved San rock paintings in the range, and the Lammergeier hide, where photographers watch bearded vultures come to a bone-baited ledge in winter. Eland, mountain reedbuck and baboons move on the grasslands, and the hiking runs from short walks to the escarpment. The camp's chalets have a fireplace and a view; the roads in are tarred.
