About this route
Zululand is where South African birding gets serious without losing the pleasure of a slow bush evening. Sand forest specials sit a short drive from wetland flocks, and the Big Five reserves of Hluhluwe-iMfolozi, Phinda and Mkhuze are on the same roads. The route runs north from Hluhluwe through Mkuze to the Kosi lakes, where Palm-nut Vulture and raffia palms mark the Mozambique border.
