About Willem Pretorius Nature Reserve
Willem Pretorius is a Free State reserve around the Allemanskraal Dam on the Sand River, between Bloemfontein and Kroonstad on the N1. It is a grassland and koppie reserve with white rhino, buffalo, giraffe, eland and black wildebeest and no large predators, and the dam is the draw for anglers and boating. Chalets and camping sit on the shore. It is malaria-free and a practical overnight on the long drive north or south.
