About Tsavo West National Park
Tsavo West is the hillier, greener half of Tsavo, with volcanic cones, the Shetani lava flow, and Mzima Springs, where crystal-clear water from the Chyulu hills pours out into pools watched from an underwater hide for hippo and fish. It is a Big Five park with the Ngulia rhino sanctuary and large elephant herds, and the Chyulu and Kilimanjaro views on clear days. It is bigger and wilder than the coastal safaris usually allow for, reached from Mombasa, Voi or the Amboseli side, and it is a malaria area.
