Prince Edward Islands Special Nature Reserve

The Prince Edward Islands are two sub-Antarctic islands about 1,800 kilometres south-east of Cape Town, Marion and Prince Edward, administered by South Africa as a special nature reserve and a Ramsar site. They are a breeding ground for king penguins, wandering albatrosses and elephant seals, and a research station on Marion Island is the only human presence. There is no tourism: access is limited to scientific expeditions on the annual relief voyage. They are listed here for completeness, as the southernmost protected area in the country.
