About Nxai Pan National Park
Nxai Pan is a small park north of the Maun to Nata road, a fossil lakebed of grassland and mopane that fills with zebra in the wet season, when the migrating herds from the Boteti arrive between about December and March, along with springbok, gemsbok and their predators. In the dry months the waterhole in front of the camp is the focus. Baines' Baobabs, a cluster of seven trees painted by Thomas Baines in 1862, stands on the pan to the south. It is a 4x4 park with a lodge and a campsite, and a malaria area.
