About Lower Zambezi National Park
The Lower Zambezi is the Zambian bank of the river opposite Mana Pools, a park of floodplain, winterthorn forest and escarpment, and the best place in Africa to canoe among wildlife: guided trips drift past elephant crossing the channels, hippo, crocodile and buffalo on the islands. Tiger fishing, walking safaris and boat safaris are the rest of it, with lion, leopard and wild dog on the floodplain. The camps are reached by charter flight from Lusaka or by road and boat from Chirundu, and the season is about April to November, with October the hottest and the game most concentrated. It is a malaria area.
