About Limpopo National Park
Limpopo National Park is the Mozambican third of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park, joined to Kruger across an open border since the early 2000s. It is far wilder and emptier than Kruger: wildlife is recovering after decades of war and poaching, roads are sand tracks, and the few camps are simple. Its appeal is the 4x4 traverse from the Giriyondo gate on the Kruger side to the Massingir dam and on to the coast, or the Shingwedzi river valley, with elephant and a growing predator population. It is a malaria area, best in the dry season from May to October.
