Highest free-standing mountain in world
Tanzania
Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa at 5,895 metres, a free-standing volcano with five climate zones from rainforest to arctic summit, and a World Heritage Site. The climb takes six to nine days on the Machame, Lemosho, Marangu, Rongai or Northern Circuit routes, all with a licensed guide and porters, and the longer routes have far better success rates because of acclimatisation. The dry seasons from January to March and June to October are the climbing windows. Moshi and Arusha are the bases, and the forest on the lower slopes has colobus monkeys and good birding for those not climbing.

Why book here
Wild places survive when the communities around them earn more from protecting wildlife than from anything that would replace it. Every stay you book through Spekboom carries a conservation contribution built into the price, never added on top, so choosing where you sleep becomes a way to fund the people and projects keeping this landscape intact.
