Hell's Gate National Park

Hell's Gate is a small park near Lake Naivasha in Kenya's Rift Valley, unusual because you can walk and cycle through it: there are no lions or elephants, so the gorge with its cliffs and hot springs, the rock towers, and the buffalo, zebra and giraffe on the plains are explored on foot or by bicycle hired at the gate. It is a rock-climbing site and a geothermal one, with a power station on its edge, and the lower gorge walk can flood suddenly in rain. Naivasha's lakeside lodges and campsites are the base, about two hours from Nairobi.
