Tanda Tula Safari Camp

Tanda Tula has been a home in the Greater Kruger since 1977, and it still runs like one. The camp is proudly African, co-owned by the Scott, Jackson, Mathebula and Hartog families, and sits in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve looking out over a dry riverbed.

There are nine suites and never more than 22 guests. Seven Safari Suites take two, open plan with the lounge and bedroom running onto a wide terrace and a private plunge pool, and a bathroom with an indoor and an outdoor shower and a freestanding bath. Two Family Suites take four, two bedrooms with their own bathrooms either side of a shared lounge and pool, which suits two adults and two children or two couples travelling together. Suite 3 is adapted for wheelchair access.

The main areas are light and open: lounge, dining and bar under a wraparound covered patio, with a communal pool, a library and map room, a curio shop, a safari gym and a Wellness Nest. There is a waterhole with a viewing nest, and a Birds Nest for a drink above the treeline. The camp runs on solar with a generator behind it.

Game drives go out morning and afternoon in open vehicles with a maximum of six guests, and a private vehicle can be booked in advance. Guided bush walks, sundowners, bush breakfasts, sound and star safaris and private dinners all sit within the rate. Children are welcome from six.
