Hottentots Holland Nature Reserve

Hottentots Holland Nature Reserve protects a vast tract of the high Boland mountains above Grabouw and Somerset West, a rugged World Heritage Site of deep gorges, waterfalls and exceptional mountain fynbos. It is best known as the home of the classic multi-day Boland Hiking Trail and the dramatic Suicide Gorge kloofing route.

The reserve draws serious hikers, kloofers and mountain bikers, with crystal river pools, sweeping ridge-top views and some of the finest wilderness walking within easy reach of Cape Town.

Overnight hikers stay in a chain of simple trail huts, Landdroskop, Shamrock, Boesmanskloof and Aloe Ridge, spaced along the Boland Trail. Rates are charged per person per night, and hikers must be self-sufficient and well prepared for mountain conditions.
