Lerai Safari Camp sits on 5,000 acres of the Olerai Conservancy, bordering the Masai Mara and shared with Maasai landowners, with 3,500 acres reserved for exclusive Wilder use. Eight tents rest beneath olive trees and bougainvillea, offering an intimate alternative to the busier reserve while delivering the same quality of game viewing.

Because it is the only camp in the conservancy, guests can do things the reserve does not allow: night drives after dark for aardvark and civet, and walking safaris on foot with a Maasai tracker reading tracks, scent and birdsong. Guests can follow the resident lions of the Rongai Pride along the Olkejurongai stream and spend time with the Maasai partners whose land and livelihoods are interwoven with the conservancy.

Tents come in king or twin configurations with en-suite bathrooms, an outdoor seating area, wifi and yoga mats. The camp is solar powered and plastic free, with a swimming pool, a spa, a gift shop and free laundry.

Hot air balloon safari over the Masai Mara
About one hour aloft, back by mid-morning
Lift off before sunrise and drift over the Mara plains for about an hour, guided by the wind, with 360 degree views as the wildlife moves below. The flight ends with a champagne breakfast out on the plains. Run by Wilder's own Hot Air Safaris and bookable from any of the Wilder Mara camps. Priced per adult in high season (1 July to 15 October and 20 December to 3 January); low season is $505 per adult and $400 per child. Children 5 to 11 are charged as children and must fly with an adult, and the number of children must not exceed the number of adults in the group. Both prices include the landing fee of $80 per adult and $35 per child, which is non-commissionable. Exclusive use of a balloon for up to 16 guests is $8,800 in high season and $8,080 in low season. Not suitable for anyone under 5, in the third trimester of pregnancy, with diagnosed osteoporosis or known heart disease, or who has been injured or operated on in the last six months. Booking release is 45 days.
