Agulhas Rest Camp sits at the southernmost tip of the African continent, within Agulhas National Park, where the warm Indian Ocean and the cold Atlantic meet. The landscape here is windswept and elemental, a low coastal plain of fynbos and limestone fringed by rocky shoreline, wetlands and one of the richest concentrations of plant species on earth. It is a place defined by big skies, distant horizons and the constant presence of the sea.
The camp makes a quiet base for exploring the surrounding coast. Nearby are the historic Cape Agulhas lighthouse, the monument marking the geographic tip of Africa, and walking trails through the fynbos and along the shore. Birdlife is plentiful in the wetlands and estuaries, and the area is known for its shipwreck heritage.
Accommodation is comfortable and unpretentious, suited to travellers who want to slow down, walk the coastline and watch the weather roll in off two oceans.
