Makalali River Lodge

Makalali River Lodge sits on the banks of the Makhutswi River in the Greater Makalali Private Game Reserve, west of the Kruger National Park. It is built as three small camps of six suites each, private from one another but close enough to share, and each camp has its own plunge pool, enclosed dining area and lounge.

Every suite has an en-suite bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers and a fireplace, and a raised private timber deck, or sala, for watching birds and game or taking a private lunch or dinner. The kitchen cooks regional African dishes.

Two game drives a day in open vehicles are led by qualified rangers across a Big Five reserve. Children can join a bush knowledge course, and a therapist is available on request.
