The River Camp

The River Camp sits in the Laikipia region of Kenya, on the banks of the Ngobit River with Mount Kenya rising on the horizon. Six en-suite guest tents and two deluxe suites take a maximum of twenty guests at a time, which gives the kind of privacy and space a setting this remote deserves.

Each tent looks out over the river from a private deck, with both indoor and outdoor showers that open to the landscape beyond. The interiors are considered and warm, with carefully chosen furnishings and artwork that feel at home in the wilderness.

This is Ol Pejeta, home to Najin and Fatu, the last two northern white rhinos on earth. Seeing them is unlike any other wildlife encounter: the sole surviving members of their subspecies, watched over around the clock by a dedicated team. The conservancy also allows night drives, which gives guests a chance at aardvark, civet and the other animals that only move after dark.

Tents come in king or twin configurations, the family tents in king and twin, with en-suite bathrooms, a lounge and dressing area, a private viewing deck and yoga mats. The camp is solar powered and plastic free, with a swimming pool, a spa, a gift shop, wifi and free laundry.
